St. Albert Scrip Program

What is Scrip?

Scrip is an amazingly successful fundraising program that benefits St. Albert the Great Parish and helps parish families pay tuition for Catholic education. Scrip turns everyday shopping into cash for our parish when families use retail gifts certificates for everyday purchases (like gas and groceries) instead of their credit/debit cards or cash.

How does Scrip work?

The parish purchases retail gifts cards at 1% to 13% less than face value. The actual percentage varies by retailer. You then purchase the retail gifts cards through the parish Scrip Program at face value. The difference between the face value and what the parish actually pays goes directly to the parish, a portion of which can be used by you for tuition credits. The best part is that family and friends who are not members of St. Albert the Great parish can purchase Scrip and have their purchase applied to your account! Now the savings really start to build!

For example, the parish purchases Acme gift cards at a 5% discount. Mrs. Smith then purchases a $100.00 Acme gift card from the Scrip Program at face value. The parish immediately receives $5.00 from the purchase and applies $3.00 to Mrs. Smith's Scrip account, and the remaining $2.00 goes to the parish. Mrs. Smith can then use that $3.00 and any other funds in her Scrip account to be applied towards her child's tuition. It's really that simple.

We have families who save hundreds of dollars every year of their tuition bill by simply buying and using Scrip for purchases they would make anyway for things like groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, and even gasoline. You can even use Scrip to purchase gift cards to give as gifts at Christmas and for birthdays. The savings add up fast!

What is the benefit of using Scrip?

Parishioners that use Scrip have a Scrip account with the parish. The funds raised through your purchase of Scrip goes directly to your Scrip account and can be applied as a credit towards CCD tuition or school tuition at any Catholic grade school, Catholic high school, or any college. It is an easy affordable way to save money for tuition by just shopping for your everyday needs.

How do I redeem my Scrip Credit?

Scrip can be redeemed twice per year for St. Albert the Great School tuition. It can be redeemed for either the May or August tuition collection. Check requests for CCD or any other Catholic grade school, Catholic high school, or college can be requested at any time. Just contact the rectory at 215-947-3500 for details.
