"As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace. Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Grounded in the Works of Mercy, CSI is our Youth Ministry Program which is open to all youth in grades 6 through 8, regardless of what school they attend (i.e., Catholic, Public, or Private). CSI is more than an ordinary service based program. Participants learn through hands-on experiences and reflection that service is a fundamental part of Christian discipleship and our journey to become the person God has called and created us to be.

There is a fundamental difference between civic service and Christian service. Civic service is a part of everyone's responsibility to make the world a better place. However, Christian service is more profound. Christians are motivated to serve others by their love for God and neighbor, and recognize that they are the face and hands of Christ when they serve, thus allowing others to experience God's love through their very person. Christians see service as an opportunity to give glory to God through the graces with which God has provided them (1 Peter 4:10-11). This principle is the foundation of all we do in CSI.

The program has two components, Acts of Mercy and fellowship. CSI Acts of Mercy Initiatives are held the 2nd Sunday of the Month, from 1:00 - 2:30 PM, in the parish auditorium, September through June. CSI First Friday Fellowship is held the first Friday of the month in the rectory basement meeting area from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Additional gathering opportunities are occasionally made available throughout the year for the participants to engage in Christian mercy and fellowship. There is no cost for this program, but registration is necessary to assist us with the organization and planning of the program.
